The dangers of going too green

-->

Maybe those “Smart Cars” aren’t so smart after all.

Here’s a stock photo of one:

and here’s what happened recently when one got smushed between two trucks.

Not only are these things ugly, but they are dangerous! A full sized car, an SUV or even a compact car would have afforded this poor guy better odds of survival.

I guess you can say that not only do “Smart” cars save a little money on gas but they can also save money on a casket. Just drop the whole thing into the grave after any fender-bender.

Be careful about going too green.

    What makes you think that’s a Smart car? The only recognisable thing is the alloy wheel which is completely different from the stock one so if anything points to it being a different type of car.

    Also, big cars != safer cars… go take a look at http://www.euroncap.com/carsearch.aspx - in fact most of the large SUV type cars come off significantly worse than standard saloons & compacts.

    ok, ive had it with people defending smart cars. how can you look at one and honestly say that being crammed in a small metal object is going to save you in a crash. i wouldn’t even want a bicycle hitting me if i drove that ugly piece of crap.
    think about it, in a normal vehicle, you at least have a good 4-5 ft between you and the front of the vehicle in a front end collision, not nearly as much as a smart car, which leaves the rest to physics (and common sense) if your front end gets hit in this lousy excuse for a vehicle, you have much less vehicle to crush in front of you, and more room to get chopped in half by your engine, same goes for the back end. better hope the kids arent in the car with you in that case, theyre probably safer standing in the middle of the 401 ( a highway in canada infamous for gruesome pileups)
    if youre thinking of buying a smart car, congrats your a bloody moron
