American families suffering as the economy melts down. Obama’s vacation takes priority

-->

The Obama’s are taking their sixth vacation this year. That’s nearly 1 per month. Pictures can be seen online of him and his family eating ice cream, dining out at expensive restaurants, playing golf, swimming, etc. Here are a few:

Meanwhile the economy continues its meltdown. Home foreclosures spike in July. The unemployment problem continues unabated. Among the young (16-24), it’s at levels not seen since just after WWII. The number of failed banks is nearing 120 for this year, which will cause it to surpass the number in 2009.

Local governments are closing public hospitals due to a lack of funds. The toll is getting more personal too. A record number of Americans are on food stamps: the highest rate in history (nearly 40 million Americans). And finally, nearly 1 in 6 Americans are on some sort of government anti-poverty aid.

Once again, we can’t help but ask if this was the “change” everyone asked for? The Obama’s are living the high-life with apparently little regard for the sufferings of many Americans. Is this the compassion Obama voters thought they were electing?

The “stimulus” was a major failure of Keynesian economics. In an economy driven by consumer spending, government spending can only last so long. Consumers must have the money to spend and save for themselves. This will not happen while big government policies, heavy handed regulation and confiscatory taxes are in place.
